This past weekend I went home for a super quick visit in honour of my best friend's birthday!  We spent some time  shopping downtown and while we were there we popped into Brandy Melville.  I don't know if there is a Brandy Melville where you live but just in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, Brandy is store that carries super comfy clothes and some funky accessories, too.  Their clothing is all one size fits most, which kind of turns me off it...  BUT their stores are all so cool inside.  The walls are covered in dream catchers, wood planks with little sayings on them, all the hangers are wrapped in floral fabric, the table displays are all super neat and the vibe in the store is just so different.  Anyway, while we were in there this past weekend I fell in love with the dream catchers on the walls.  So, in true Emily fashion, I decided I was going to make them.  I've made dream catchers before, both the traditional-ish way, and the decorative way with doilies and fabric and such, so I kind of knew what I was getting into which definitely made it easier! Without further ado...

Materials

  • twig wreaths (I got mine from Michaels)
  • embroidery thread
  • yarn, fabric scraps, beads, crystals - anything you want to use to embellish!
  • needle
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Wrap the embroidery thread around the wreath (here's a tutorial in case you'd like one! Fast forward to 1:00 to get to the wrapping part).  Add beads to the thread as you go if you want them to be inside the dream catcher.
  2. Embellish!  I started by just adding strands individually, but realized I like the look of a whole bunch wrapped up together.

That's it!  Soooo easy.  Well, once you get the wreath wrapped...  You'll need some extreme patience for that part..
