Nourish in the Harbour

Much like all the other places I’ve shared here, I owe thanks to Instagram for introducing me to this incredible place.  I’d wanted to try it for ages and had driven by it bundles of times but had never actually stopped in at Nourish in the Harbour.  My mistake!  About two weeks ago I decided enough was enough; it was time for me to get my butt in there.

As soon as I walked through the door I knew I’d found my place.  Big windows, natural decor, hardwood floors, mismatched furniture, it basically looked like the perfect Pinterest board!  I’d heard about the study rooms upstairs so I headed up there and immediately fell in love.  More hardwood floors, more mismatched furniture, mirrors, couches, a cozy little window seat, plants scattered around the room, mellow tunes playing quietly in the corner; it was all of my cafe dreams come true.

The great thing about Nourish in the Harbour is that is caters to absolutely everyone.  There’s a restaurant in the main part of the house for foodies, a coffee bar under the stairs for the caffeine deprived, a study room upstairs for the sleep deprived, and a parlour room that can be rented out for all sorts of occasions.  The goal at Nourish is just that: to nourish both the body and the soul.  You won’t find a single unhealthy thing on any of their menus so it’s a guilt free experience, and whether you go alone or with a friend, you’ll leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready to go on with your day.

Although they’ve been open for less than a year Nourish has already accomplished so much.  Most recently, the restaurant was named one of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants of 2016.  They also put on a hugely successful leaf drive in November to collect leaves that will be used to nourish a garden being planted later this spring.   Not to mention, they’ve created the most delectable healthy restaurant in all the land.

Have you ever heard of bone broth? It’s very similar to chicken or beef stalk that you would use to make soup.  The difference between the two is that the bones for bone broth are first roasted and then simmered for at least 12 hours to ensure that the maximum amount of nutrients have been leeched out.  In short, it’s a super healthy, protein packed beverage that warms you from the inside out and has been used for centuries to help treat all sorts of ailments.  And, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, it can be found at Nourish!  Add one of their tasty oils to it, and you’ve got yourself an extra yummy drink.
